ABOUT

Dr Michal Ben-David combines her roles as an innovation and creativity management consultant and lecturer with a rich background in the Israeli TV entertainment industry. She holds a PhD in Culture, Media, and Creative Industries from King's College London, and an MBA from the Berlin School of Creative Leadership, underscoring her deep expertise in both academic and practical realms.

MICHAL BEN DAVID

Michal serves as a Visiting Lecturer at Reichman University's School of Communication and School of Entrepreneurship. In addition, she is as a Script Reader for KAN Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation and a Certified Facilitator of the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method, which she applies in various academic and business workshops. With a keen interest in emerging narrative forms, Michal is actively exploring the future of storytelling, focusing on the innovative use of AI and XR technologies.

A short video from the lecture: Future of Storytelling at the Jerusalem Film Festival 2022

AI Storytelling course at The Jerusalem Film and TV Fund (2023)

Michal conducted an intensive 6-sessions program for The Jerusalem Film and TV Fund, guiding filmmakers in merging AI with traditional storytelling. The course culminated in the creation of AI-driven short videos, each uniquely narrating a story about Jerusalem.

Lego Serious Play Workshop, Reichman University (2022)

Michal facilitated this Lego Serious Play workshop in 2022, as part of the UG Digital Leadership course at Reichman University, School of Entrepreneurship. The students explored key issues of leadership/followership through the Lego models.

KAN, Israeli Public TV’s Creative Incubator Programme (2020)

In 2020, Michal was a mentor in KAN’s creative incubator. She mentored a group of aspiring creators in the documentary and digital media tracks through the development process of their projects and prepared them to their final pitch.

Keynote Speaker at IDEE in Hangzhou China (2019)

In 2019 Michal was invited to give a keynote at the International Digital Education Event in Hangzhou China. Her keynote From Idea to Prototype: Enhancing Creative Confidence through Design Thinking addressed the use of Design Thinking in Higher Education.

Future of Storytelling
Talk at the Jerusalem Film Festival (2022)

Michal addressed different applications of AI in content creation on various digital platforms, using innovative technologies, such as: AR, VR, VP, DEEPFAKE. The talk was part of The Jerusalem Film & TV Fund’s special event.

Lego Serious Play Online Workshop, ZEGO (2022) 

Michal designed and facilitated this online Lego Serious Play workshop for the London based ZEGO company and management team during Covid. The participants addressed key B2B questions.

Winner of MIPTV 2019 Students Pitch (2019)

In April 2019, Michal’s students won the first prize of the MIPTV International Students Pitch with their original format 7 KEYS. As lecturer and mentor at Regent’s University London, Michal helped the students to prepare to the pitch and accompanied them to Cannes.

An Agile Model of TV Format Development for a Post Covid World, in: Transition Media in a Post Covid World (2022)    

In this book chapter Michal explores an agile model of TV format development, building on Dori Media Accelerator as a case study. The chapter assesses how key business innovation principles, can be applied to TV format development thus offering a leaner alternative for TV corporate innovation.

Dori Media Accelerator (2021)

Dori Media Creative Accelerator was designed and facilitated by Michal during the 2nd Covid lockdown. Over 150 creative teams from Israel submitted ideas, after which six projects were selected. The Accelerator was conducted during three months of development, ending with an international pitch event.

Lead Tutor at King’s College London Summer Programme (2015-2019)

From 2015-2019, Michal was a lead tutor at King’s College London Summer Programme, for the JESIE Arts, Media and Culture Programme (Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange) and Beijing Normal University’s Leadership Programme. In this role Michal helped the students to bridge the gap between East and West cultures.
